Antique John Cox of 7/8" Quirk Ovolo Moulding Plane
This antique complex moulding plane appears to be an Ovolo with beveled bead (I could be wrong on the nomenclature--see photos of profile). Maker's mark is "I. EDWARDS," "A.S.," and "MOSELY LATE MUT," marks I cannot find an exact match for in the Directory of American Toolmakers, T.L. Elliott's American Wooden Planes, or W.L. Goodman's British Planemakers (though Goodman does reference a W. & T. Edwards working out of Manchester in the 1830's). Boxwood spline is somewhat damaged. Looks like maple or beech. Blade is 1 3/8" wide. Body without cutter or peg installed measures 9 3/8" long x 3 1/4" tall x 2" wide.
